Like an engagement ring, the Holy Spirit is a down payment on an eternal commitment. The Spirit is a heavenly first installment given in anticipation of eternal life, a life that’s eternally secure. The Spirit is a foretaste of what’s ahead!

Wow!

When I read that this morning, it gave me a whole new revelation of the Holy Spirit! An engagement ring is definitely a down payment on a forever commitment! And you know what else, it’s the confirmation from the Holy Spirit that you need in order to give or get an engagement ring! Hello somebody!

This morning we started reading Ephesians for our Scriptural Bible Study. I read it from my Bible app first in the NIRV translation and these verses were the ones I highlighted as God speaking to me:

11 We were also chosen to belong to him. God decided to choose us long ago in keeping with his plan. He works out everything to fit his plan and purpose. 12 We were the first to put our hope in Christ. We were chosen to bring praise to his glory. 13 You also became believers in Christ. That happened when you heard the message of truth. It was the good news about how you could be saved. When you believed, he stamped you with an official mark. That official mark is the Holy Spirit that he promised. 14 The Spirit marks us as God’s own. We can now be sure that someday we will receive all that God has promised. That will happen after God sets all his people completely free. All these things will bring praise to his glory. ~ Ephesians 1:11-14

Check out the text and note where I added a bold font. This reveals the conversation:

  • You were chosen.

  • I work out everything to fit My plan and purpose.

  • You were chosen to bring praise to My glory.

  • When you believed, you were stamped with an official mark, the Holy Spirit.

  • The Holy Spirit marks you as My own.

  • You can be sure that someday you will receive all that I promised.

  • All these things will bring praise to My glory.

As I studied this first chapter of Ephesians, which by the way, I already had so many highlights from a previous study, but I love how Holy Spirit always reveals what you need to see TODAY when you study the Word of God, regardless of the revelations you got in the past.

When I read verse 17-19, I felt led to record myself reading it, so I will share it with you here:

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
