As for Me and My House...We Will Serve the Lord
This morning I was struggling to get up when my alarm went off. I was like, ooohhh Lord, can I get a few more minutes? Have you ever asked God for a few more minutes of sleep? I laid there and felt myself doze off. After a while, I was right back up. I then heard this faint sound. It was the TV coming from my son’s room. I got on up and headed that way.
He had his eyes closed but his remote was in his hand (kids really don’t realize that we were kids before too). His eyes were blinking and I said, “Son, I know you are awake.” After the week we have had where I have had to discipline both my children, He didn’t even try to play possum. He said, “I woke up because I heard my TV and now I am trying to go back to sleep.” I proceeded to pause the TV, which was playing a cooking show on YouTube. I left from the room and headed back to my room. I was definitely up now and it was time to pray.
But before I could get in the prayer closet, I heard a sound again. It was coming from my son’s room. I walked back toward his room and he had grabbed the remote again and unpaused the TV. Y’all, it was early, and even though I was sleepy, the authority as a parent came up to the brim and I said to him, “don’t you ever unpause anything that I pause. Now go to sleep.” I proceeded to turn off the TV and kept the remotes with me as I exited the room.
I was definitely up now!
When I got to the prayer closet, I just sighed. I started talking to Holy Spirit by first giving Him honor for WHO He is. I repented for my sins and I forgave those who sinned against me. I prayed for them as well. Then I started talking to the Holy Spirit about my children.
See earlier this week, I had to take my daughter’s phone because she was disobediently watching something she knew was not approved by me. I don’t approve anything with curse words in it. And yes, I used to curse. But thank God I have been delivered from foul language. Hallelujah! Prior to my daughter watching disapproved content, my son was playing his game and “accidentally” hit the button where you can talk to random people on the game. They both were caught and punished for disobedience.
As I bowed down to my Father even lower in prayer, He began to speak to me. He said: “Re-saturate their atmosphere with Me, My Words, and My Music.”
Then Holy Spirit said:
Reestablish
Reinforce
Rehabilitate
Replace
Restrictions
I will renew their minds.
It’s time to break the cycle.
Remember you have the authority to trample serpents.
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. (Luke 10:19)
Parent Boldly
All of my life, I have watched TV to fall asleep. I say all of my life, but most of what I remember. In the last two years, I switched what I was falling asleep to. I used to fall asleep to CNN or any show I may have been watching. I stopped doing that and realized that it stopped me from having crazy dreams too. Well that, and prayer to have good godly dreams.
Well now my kids are following in my footsteps because I have always allowed them to fall asleep with the TV on. And most of the time, they are watching a show on YouTube and it just advances to the next show. The Holy Spirit was correcting and instructing this morning. He said it’s time to break the cycle. And I know why.
The enemy is creeping in through the airwaves, through social media, and through these games. Most of the times my kids are watching appropriate content, but I can’t guarantee that. It’s time to break the cycle. It’s time for me to do everything Holy Spirit said to me this morning as a parent of these precious children that He blessed me with, and knew that I could parent, ONLY WITH HIM. Because He knows (the Lord knows), I can’t parent them without Him.
While laying down for some extra rest may have been what I wanted, the Lord allowed it so that I could hear the TV coming from my son’s room. What the enemy meant for evil, God turns it around for our good…EVERY SINGLE TIME!
Quarantine has definitely relaxed things a lot in my home, but when you pray for discernment and for the Lord to light up the dark areas of your life (see yesterday’s post), HE DOES! The key is allowing Him to correct you and instruct you. He WILL transform your situation, if you allow Him.
My son said to me in these early morning hours, “I fall asleep quicker with the TV.” While in the prayer closet, I decreed and declared that He will fall asleep quicker without the TV being on shows that he is used to watching in the mighty name of Jesus. This cycle is broken right now in Jesus name. The only TV that can be played now will be scripture and worship music. I WILL obey the Lord.
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15
SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
