Don't Get Caught Out of Dress Code

We are nine days into the new year and I think we all need to check the mirror.

I know I do.

When you got dressed this morning, did you remember everything? Or do you feel like you may have forgotten your belt? What about your shield? Did you remember your shield? You got on the right shoes? Some of us have so many shoes to choose from that we may have grabbed the wrong ones. What about your headgear? Did you grab the helmet or the little fuzzy hat with the ball on top? And what about your chest? Is it covered? I know my mom always says, make sure you got your chest covered up (she said that in the winter and summer too). And definitely don’t forget your sword. You should be sharpening that every day and every night before bed.

Have we put on ALL of God’s armor in this new season or did we walk into the new season forgetting that each and every day requires the uniform of God? Did we think because it’s a new year we can relax the dress code?

This morning, as I flipped right to Job, I was reminded when Job said: Even if [God} kills me, I will hope in him, that I must be resolute in my faith and never curse God or abandon Him. I was reminded to obey God no matter what. I was reminded that God has provided the perfect uniform for me to wear every single day and I don’t need to wear what’s trending on Instagram. Faith is my fashion. The whole armor of God is my go-to outfit.

13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:13-18 NIV

Don’t get caught out of dress code because evil is always lurking. As the young folks say, STAY READY so you don’t have to GET READY!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
