Is God Controlling Your Tongue or You?

Lately I have simply wanted to please God in all my actions and in all my doings. It’s like I don’t really care about much else anymore. I just want to please Him; see what He says about things; and live a lifestyle that is obedient. All the other stuff that used to matter to me, just doesn’t anymore. I now just pray about it and move on in the direction God leads me.

And to be honest, sometimes you’re moving with God and God alone, because no one else is where you are. The enemy wants you to feel lonely, but I know that GOD is with me and that’s all I need. God will divinely connect me with the right people who can push me forward, and I am good with that!

In my prayer time, I find myself releasing tears (a lot) as I pray because I am so grateful that I push myself to be in position to please Him. That wasn’t always the case. So therefore each morning, I am thankful for the opportunity to just Seek Him out of desire, and no longer out of despair. That to me, is a real game changer! Not to be crying because of something I did wrong, but crying because all I want to be is right with God. I am so thankful that I am not repenting for the same sin that had me so entangled for so long. Thank you God for deliverance!

As I was reading James. chapter 3 for the Scriptural Bible Study, I became even more grateful for where I am in my life right now. In this short chapter of James, it’s power-packed with information on how to control your tongue. If you cuss (curse), read James 3. If you criticize people, read James 3. If you gossip, read James 3. If you can’t control your mouth, read James 3.

Here’s all the points that stood out to me while studying James 3:

  • Your mouth can set the whole course of your life.

  • Ask God to steer that small part of your body called the tongue.

  • Only God can successfully tame our tongues and we need to be filled with scripture and the Holy Spirit.

  • If you call yourself a Christian or a believer in Jesus Christ, then you should not be cussing, criticizing or gossiping! If you do, the content of your heart needs to be addressed…ASAP!

  • Wise DEEDS are proof of a wise person, not someone who can speak wisely because of all their schooling and accolades.

  • Bitter, envy, selfish ambition, and mere human wisdom may help you rise to the top on the world’s stage, and when you do, you’re operating under satan’s agenda.

  • To convey heavenly wisdom, you must communicate with heaven!

As I soaked up this short, but powerful chapter of James, I thought about the scripture Psalm 19:14 which says:

Lord, may these words of my mouth please you. And may these thoughts of my heart please you also. You are my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14 NIRV

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
