Stand On My Word, Says the Lord

Stand on My Word, not theirs.

That’s what I heard Holy Spirit say in our conversation this morning. He said: Stand on My Word, not theirs. What did I say about it?

I immediately thought about this scripture in Isaiah:

The grass withers, the flower fades; nothing lasts except the word of our God. It will stand forever. — Isaiah 40:8 VOICE

Back in 2020 I was asking several of my church friends to pray for another friend. Everyone agreed to pray, but one person asked me, what scripture am I standing on in prayer? I had no idea what scripture I was standing on. All of them? LOL! I had never been asked that question before. Every time I always asked someone to pray, they would simply say okay or pray right then and there. But this question was a moment of revelation and learning for me. We are to pray the scriptures.

Check out what it says in 2 Timothy:

16 God has breathed life into all Scripture. It is useful for teaching us what is true. It is useful for correcting our mistakes. It is useful for making our lives whole again. It is useful for training us to do what is right. 17 By using Scripture, the servant of God can be completely prepared to do every good thing. — 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NIRV

When it comes to standing on God’s Word, it means we have faith in what His Word says about a matter. Take for instance someone being sick or having an infirmity. Isaiah 53:5 says:

But he was wounded and bruised for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace; he was lashed—and we were healed!  — Isaiah 53:5 TLB

So when we make that person to us and stand on this scripture through praying this scripture, it goes like this: But he was wounded and bruised for my sins. He was beaten that I might have peace; he was lashed—and I was healed!

That’s how you reword the scripture into a prayer and make it personal and affirm your faith in His Word. Jesus was wounded and bruised for my sins. He was beaten so that I might have peace. He was lashed and I was healed!

Oooh weeeee! That last part!

We must stand on God’s Word. That means speak it day and night. Believe it. Have faith in it. You believe in Jesus then you believe that He was lashed, therefore you were healed at that moment! I once heard a minister say, Jesus did all he was gonna do on the cross. Now we have to receive what He already did. And speaking of healing, He gave us the power IN HIS NAME to heal too.

Find scriptures that speak to what you’re going through in your life. Like for instance, many people are worried about Covid. As a believer though, you must stand on God’s Word. In 1 Peter 5:7 NIV, it says: Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.

Now let’s practice turning that scripture into prayer: Lord, I am casting all my anxiety on you because you care for me.

See. Now repeat that out loud all day. Also remember what Holy Spirit said to me this morning: Stand on MY Word, not theirs. So if anyone says anything that causes you anxiety, you already know to cast it (or turn it over) to God because He cares for you. How can you be worried if you turned it over to God in prayer? You can’t! So stop letting the enemy try to trick you or play mind games on you. You already gave that thing over to God.

Be encouraged today to stand on God’s Word. Pray the Scriptures. Believe God. Trust God.

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
