Stop All That Cussing!

Do you be cussing? Okay, my bad, let me rephrase: Do you sometimes allow a curse word to leave your mouth on occasion? Are you known for cussing people out? I’m just asking because the Holy Spirit gave me a word this morning about cussing and I was wondering why He was talking to ME about it. LOL! I don’t cuss…anymore!

But before I get into that part of our conversation from this morning, He also told me this: The devil has no legal access to take from you, unless you let him come in through sin.

John 10:10 CEV says: A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.

That’s when the Holy Spirit gave me a whole arithmetic lesson:

  1. When you seek me first, I add (Matthew 6:33).

  2. I AM a multiplier (Read Deuteronomy 7:12-14 MEV).

  3. Satan divides.

  4. Satan subtracts.

  5. Satan wanted to be equal to Me (and that’s why he got kicked out of heaven).

Yall see that quick math lesson! When we seek the Kingdom of God first (that means before you seek or do anything else), then He adds everything to us, but not only does it add it, He multiplies what He adds. Let’s look at the scripture that backs this up.

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. — Matthew 6:33 ESV

If you listen to these judgments, keep them, and do them, then the Lord your God shall keep with you the covenant and the mercy which He swore to your fathers. He will love you and bless you and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain, and your wine, and your oil, the increase of your herd and the young of your flock, in the land which He swore to your fathers to give you. You shall be blessed above all peoples. There will not be male or female barren among you or among your livestock. —Deuteronomy 7:12-14 MEV

Now that was first part of our conversation. I thought that was it. Then I opened my Bible to Matthew and the Holy Spirit put a highlighter on Matthew 26:73-74

After a little while those standing there approached and said to Peter, “You really are one of them, since even your accent gives you away.” Then he started to curse and to swear with an oath, “I don’t know the man!” Immediately a rooster crowed, — Matthew 26:73-74 CSB

This is the story where Peter denied Jesus three times. Now Jesus had already told Peter back in verse 34 that he would deny him three times before the rooster crowed and that’s exactly what Peter did. And while DENYING Christ Peter even got to cussing when the people pressed him about being a disciple and follower of Jesus. Yall see it in the scripture.

That’s when Holy Spirit said to me: Satan doesn’t want you to identify with Jesus Christ or know your identity in Jesus Christ. Cussing is conduct that DENIES the character of Christ in your life.

I started thinking about when I used to cuss. Yes, I say used to cuss (curse or swear for the proper people) because I don’t any more. I recognize who I represent and I can’t be cussing and representing God at the same time. That’s contradictory.

But most of the time when cussing, we are puffed up and prideful. We also cuss more when we are full of the wrong spirit (you know them spirits that make you cuss).

You may be like, but I been cussing so long, how can I stop? Now my smart answer is the same way you stop when you respect your elders (for those who actually stop when they respect they elders, because some people just don’t show no respect). But anyway, how do you stop? You first repent for cussing. Then ask Holy Spirit to guide your mouth on what to say.

for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say. — Luke 12:12 NIV

See right there in scripture, it tells us that the Holy Spirit will teach you what to say…if you let him.

Holy Spirit said we are made in the image of God and every time we act outside of that image in conduct, speech, with lack of love, faith, and purity, we are not representing Christ.

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young. Set an example for the believers in what you say and in how you live. Also set an example in how you love and in what you believe. Show the believers how to be pure. — 1 Timothy 4:12

Words create worlds yall. Stop all that cussing and represent Jesus Christ in your every day life!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
