The Shepherd and His Sheep

The Lord is my shepherd. He gives me everything I need.
He lets me lie down in fields of green grass.
He leads me beside quiet waters.
    He gives me new strength.
He guides me in the right paths
for the honor of his name.
Even though I walk
    through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid.
    You are with me.
Your shepherd’s rod and staff
    comfort me.

You prepare a feast for me
right in front of my enemies.
You pour oil on my head.
    My cup runs over.
I am sure that your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life.
And I will live in the house of the Lord
    forever.

— Psalms 23 NIRV

I really meditated on Psalm 23 today as I listened to the music that accompanied it by Nathaniel Coe.

Sometimes we just have to keep it simple and remind ourselves who leads us. We are HIS sheep. We may look around and think we don’t have what we need because it can appear desolate. It can look empty. We can often look lost in the middle of all the things we are trying to accomplish day-to-day. Some of us have mastered the look of busy, but deep down, you battle with feeling lost, without real direction or alone.

Have you ever seen sheep in a pasture. They LOOK alone. The appear boxed in. We pass them by and only notice them in passing. We often don’t see the Shepherd, but regardless of what WE see or don’t see, HE IS THERE!

He leads them even when we aren’t watching. He provides for them even when we can’t see. They trust their shepherd! I trust My Shepherd. I trust the Lord.

Shepherd is defined as a GUIDE. They give guidance. A shepherd DIRECTS in a particular direction. Shepherds TEND. Did you know that TEND means to look after, give one’s attention to, and take care of?

This is how my Shepherd, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ spoke to me this morning. His Word speaks volumes. The Holy Spirit let me know that I lack nothing as long as I keep Him as my Shepherd. He will tend to my every need.

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
