Welcome the Unusual Ways of God

This morning in prayer I realized something. God doesn’t answer our prayers or do things we expect Him to do, in the way we expect Him to do it. Wait, did that make sense? What I am saying is, God does things differently.

Have you ever asked God for something and He answered you, but it wasn’t how you thought it was going to be? I am sure many many times.

I was reading the story in Luke 5 this morning where Jesus told Simon to go out into the deep and let his nets down. Simon was like, but Master we did that already last night. And we worked hard too. And we ain’t catch nothing! (This is how I read it). LOL!

Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

When they had done so, they caught a large number of fish. There were so many that their nets began to break. — Luke 5:5-6 NIRV

However, notice that Simon didn’t stop talking. He said: “But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.”

First of all that will preach right there! Is it possible that we have missed out on a major blessing because we didn’t follow God’s instructions and “let our nets down again?” What could you and I have missed because we didn’t follow the unusual instructions of the Lord?

Some of us have probably even argued or tried to talk our way out of obedience. You know what I mean right? We say stuff like: I already did that before and I didn’t work. I tried that and failed. I ain’t doing it. I am not going to embarrass myself by trying that over again. It didn’t work the first 7 times, so why try an 8th time.

God does things differently.

“My thoughts are not like your thoughts.
And your ways are not like my ways,”
announces the Lord.
“The heavens are higher than the earth.
And my ways are higher than your ways.
My thoughts are higher than your thoughts.

— Isaiah 55:8-9 NIRV

Once we welcome that and embrace that scripture right there, we will see and experience the blessings of the Lord.

But why does God do things differently?

  1. He wants to show us WHO HE IS.

  2. He wants to show us who we are in Him.

  3. He wants to show us what our purpose is.

  4. Most importantly, He wants us to show us how to follow Him.

If we are willing to follow God, do things differently and do things again as instructed like Simon did, we can experience real comebacks in our lives.

Holy Spirit said to me this morning: I will always keep my promises, but don’t look for it to happen how you think.

Y’all, we have to embrace the unusual ways of our Lord and Savior. When I looked up the word embrace, it means: welcome, accept, adopt, and support. The opposite of embrace means to reject.

God ain’t gonna do it the way we think. Why? Because we can’t even think that high! God will do it in a way that is unusual so that He gets the glory!

Dr. Tony Evans said divine reversals are God’s speciality. He loves turning around impossible circumstances!

Be encouraged and welcome God’s unusual way of doing things in your life. God will bless you so that you can serve Him all the more!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
