Calm Down

Today was one of those mornings where I prayed from the bed when my alarm went off. I drifted back to sleep and woke up again when my next alarm went off. I prayed again. Then I drifted back to sleep. Woke up again and prayed some more.

And do you know, thoughts of me disappointing God for not being on my prayer watch in the same manner that I normally am, came to mind. I repented. Why? Because my intent is never to disappoint God.

I prayed more and I remember praying for everyone that I was supposed to have prayed for when I was sleep. It was like I was trying to cover all my bases. I know how necessary prayer is in the spiritual realm. We have the power to stop things from happening with our prayers. We have the power to bind and loose! We have a lot of power and I don’t ever want to be found not utilizing that power.

And you know what Holy Spirit said to me as I felt like I was playing “Prayer Catch-Up” this morning? He said: Be still and know that I AM GOD!

Yesterday I had a conversation with a very good friend and she reminded me that every morning that I get up, I am BEING who God called me to be. It’s not about what I am doing per se, it’s more about who I am BEING! In that same conversation with her, I realized that the word “BE” is in the word OBEY! It is also in OBEDIENCE.

I don’t know about you, but a lot of times I will allow myself to get all out of whack when I am not DOING things exactly how I always do it, especially when it comes to my prayer time. But Holy Spirit reminded me that He can use me in the bed, the bathroom, the car, the closet, the kitchen, and wherever else I am…all because I am BEING who He called me to be. I am OBEYING the call upon my life.

When He said Be Still and Know that I AM GOD this morning, it reminded me that while I am important to His plan, He is still God and I don’t have to feel like I gottta be Him. He is still in control and even my sleepy prayers have power! Hallelujah!

When I read the other translation of that scripture He quoted me in conversation, which by the way is Psalms 46:10, one of the translations spoke more loudly to me and was just exactly what I needed to hear from Holy Spirit.

CALM DOWN!

Our God says, “Calm down, and learn that I am God! All nations on earth will honor me.” — Psalms 46:10 CEV

It was like Holy Spirit sent me to that specific translation to tell me to CALM DOWN and learn that He is God. Don’t get all out of whack over doing prayer a certain way. Just BE who I called you to be. Just OBEY the assignments I gave you.

Calm down Fon.

P.S. I just love my Conversations With God! Don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
