Fresh Start Starting Today

Be An Example…a godly one.

That was the subject of my conversation with Holy Spirit this morning. I had flipped to 1 Timothy 4:7 and just reading God’s word really shifted my mindset on who I am being! Holy Spirit said, train yourself in godliness.

When I read the study notes in my Tony Evans Study Bible, godliness is defined as becoming more like God in actions, attitudes, character, and conduct. And the Word of God produces godliness when obeyed.

There’s that word again: OBEDIENCE.

As Christians, our goal should be to become more like God in every area of our lives. That means being obedient to what He says to do in every area of our lives. Like Holy Spirit said in our conversation, I am to be a godly example wherever I am and whomever I am talking to.

Don’t let anyone make fun of you, just because you are young. Set an example for other followers by what you say and do, as well as by your love, faith, and purity. — 1 Timothy 4:12 CEV

I heard a pastor once say regarding celibacy for singles: You can’t be God’s example and the devil’s sample at the same time!

YIKES! That’s so good! But that goes for more than just celibacy. That can be for any area of your life where you are compromising who God made you to be, for who the world says you should be.

But back to the celibacy part though because I see a lot of women who have decided to be celibate question their decision based on a man saying, how can you be celibate and you already got kids or you’re already not a virgin? I literally just read a woman’s post of a man saying that. Then there are other evil voices who have platforms (which I won’t even give them any mention on my platform), but they out here pedaling this narrative, like you can’t start fresh.

Only an evil person or person with an evil spirit operating in them will tell you that you can’t start being a godly example (verses the devil’s sample) right now today! Listen! Because of Jesus Christ and what He did on the cross for you and for me, you can! The only one who is already a lost cause is Satan.

So anyone who pushes that narrative of you not being able to start over IN ANY AREA OF YOUR LIFE, is evil and based on their actions, is on team darkness.

But don’t listen to that liar!

Our God is compassionate, kind, patient, generous, and forgiving! Jesus died so we could be set free from sin! And when you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, you DO START FRESH!

In Philippians 3:13-14 it says:

My friends, I don’t feel that I have already arrived. But I forget what is behind, and I struggle for what is ahead. I run toward the goal, so that I can win the prize of being called to heaven. This is the prize that God offers because of what Christ Jesus has done. — Philippians 3:13-14 CEV

Forget what is behind you! Forget what you did in the past. Jesus did! When you accepted Him as your personal Lord and Savior, He forgave you for all that you did in your past. He casts everything into the sea of forgetfulness! So don’t let some liar try to tell you that you aren’t fresh starting. You ARE fresh starting right now!

When I was reading in Philippians, chapter 3 though, it was verses 7-8 that really shifted my whole mind! Thank God for a renewed mind, right?

But Christ has shown me that what I once thought was valuable is worthless. Nothing is as wonderful as knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have given up everything else and count it all as garbage. All I want is Christ. — Philippians 3:7-8 CEV

Be encouraged today to start being a godly example. When we seek God first, He will add everything else to our lives.

P.S. I just love my Conversations With God! Don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
