Get to Know Who God Is.

What a wonderful Saturday morning today is! If you’re listening to the podcast or reading this blog, then you ought to be thanking the Lord. Hallelujah!

As I was praying this morning, I kept thanking God. Sometimes, I think I try to thank Him 10,000 times. You know how they say, if I had 10,000 tongues, I still couldn’t thank Him enough. That’s how I feel sometimes. I am so grateful for the freedom that I have in Jesus. And if you want to know this freedom, if you want to have this freedom that I am talking about, and you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, then all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead. That’s Romans 10:9. You are saved! And then John 8:36 says whom the Son (Jesus) sets free is truly free indeed! So let’s praise the Lord for your freedom! You are free! Hallelujah!

I was reading and studying Psalm 20 today (because today is February 20) and there were a few points from the study that I want to share with you. I encourage you to read the chapter. But you know what? You’re already listening, so let me just make the Word convenient this morning and read it here:

Psalm 20

Deliverance in Battle

For the choir director. A psalm of David.

May the Lord answer you in a day of trouble;
may the name of Jacob’s God protect you.
May he send you help from the sanctuary
and sustain you from Zion.
May he remember all your offerings
and accept your burnt offering.Selah

May he give you what your heart desires
and fulfill your whole purpose.
Let us shout for joy at your victory
and lift the banner in the name of our God.
May the Lord fulfill all your requests.

Now I know that the Lord gives victory to his anointed;
he will answer him from his holy heaven
with mighty victories from his right hand.
Some take pride in chariots, and others in horses,
but we take pride in the name of the Lord our God.
They collapse and fall,
but we rise and stand firm.
Lord, give victory to the king!
May he answer us on the day that we call.

Psalm 20 CSB

Here are the points I took down in my journal because this is what I believe the Holy Spirit wanted me to see this morning:

  • Our victory will be seen as God’s victory.

  • Victory ultimately comes from God.

  • Trust in the Lord’s character, reputation, and sovereignty. (I just realized that many of us don’t trust what we don’t know).

  • Our God is big enough to deal with all our enemies.

  • The greater our focus ON God, the greater our confidence IN God.

As I sat there listening, this thought came to me: We have all been forced at some point to make the adjustment. Have you ever wondered why it was forced? But I want to shift your perspective for a moment. Have you ever been grateful that you had to be forced to make an adjustment? Sometimes God allows things to happen, which causes us to be forced to make an adjustment. But on the other side of that force, we get to see His mighty hand and His mighty power move in our lives. We would not have been able to see it had He not allowed the things that forced us into a position to see.

When I am sitting in the prayer closet, sometimes my mind can start wandering. I usually don’t let it go for long, but many times I do. The Holy Spirit reminded me this morning to take every negative thought (or thought that is not from him) captive. He said, don’t let it linger!

I looked up at some scriptures that I have posted in my prayer closet and Philippians 4:8 was perfect for this!

Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 CEV

Be encouraged to thank God and trust God. If you don’t know His character and His reputation, I encourage you to find out so that any other thoughts that are not Him at all, can be taken captive and thrown back to the pits of hell where they belong. The enemy is always trying to get your mind off of God, but today we commit to keeping our mind and hearts STAYED ON JESUS! Hallelujah!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
