Scripture Is Perfect. Period!

I want to kick off today’s blog with scripture.

I read Psalm 19 today (check the date of February 19th) and I believe these 14 verses can totally transform your mindset.

Plus if you don’t get to read your Bible today (which you should), you will read it here (or hear it on the podcast).

Psalm 19

The Witness of Creation and Scripture

For the choir director. A psalm of David.

The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour out speech;
night after night they communicate knowledge.
There is no speech; there are no words;
their voice is not heard.
Their message has gone out to the whole earth,
and their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun.
It is like a bridegroom coming from his home;
it rejoices like an athlete running a course.
It rises from one end of the heavens
and circles to their other end;
nothing is hidden from its heat.

The instruction of the Lord is perfect,
renewing one’s life;
the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy,
making the inexperienced wise.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
making the heart glad;
the command of the Lord is radiant,
making the eyes light up.

9 The fear of the Lord is pure,
enduring forever;
the ordinances of the Lord are reliable
and altogether righteous.
10 They are more desirable than gold—
than an abundance of pure gold;
and sweeter than honey
dripping from a honeycomb.
11 In addition, your servant is warned by them,
and in keeping them there is an abundant reward.

12 Who perceives his unintentional sins?
Cleanse me from my hidden faults.
13 Moreover, keep your servant from willful sins;
do not let them rule me.
Then I will be blameless
and cleansed from blatant rebellion.
14 May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable to you,
Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.

The verses that really stood out for me were ALL OF THEM, but for real though, 7-11 and then 12-14! LOL! I know what you are thinking…that IS almost all of them. Verse 14 is a scripture that I heard as a kid growing up in church. It was more like benediction (or closing prayer) and I knew it from memory. I was telling my Dad the other day that I found myself saying one morning during prayer. But when I was younger, I didn’t understand it, but it was memorized! And the fact that the Holy Spirit can bring it back to my remembrance lets me know how important it is to ensure we train up our children with the Word of God!

Dr. Tony Evans gave some amazing study notes for these scriptures that I want to share too! He said this:

  • Scripture is perfect, it lacks nothing.

  • Everything you need to know to be what God expects you to be, in fact, has been revealed in scripture.

  • The Bible is trustworthy. The Bible is reliable.

  • The Bible enables us to make good and wise choices that reflect a divine perspective, just from reading it AND TRUSTING IT! <—————- THAT LAST PART is where I believe we struggle as a people.

  • The precepts of the Lord, which are scripture’s divine principles, leads a person down the right path.

  • Scriptures point out the road we ought to take and it promises blessings for taking it!!!! (YES!!)

  • Hidden faults are those no one but God sees.

  • Willful sins are wrongs that we actually plan. (Lord help us stop willfully sinning!!).

As I read through those study notes and the scriptures, the Holy Spirit confirmed and said to me: My Word has everything you need to know about how I want you to live Fon. Anything outside of it is the alternative that I don’t approve of.

I started thinking about my life. I thought about how for so long I didn’t read my Bible consistently nor did I TRUST what it said. How do I know I didn’t trust what it said? Because I didn’t do what I knew it said. So that means I didn’t trust it. Somebody can tell you this road will take you to a million dollars, but if you don’t trust what they say, you simply won’t take that road. You will doubt it. But we are to have child-like faith. We are to be like children who are led by the Word of God, not these grown, think-we-know-it-alls.

Don’t make it complex when God has already made it complete!

Don’t make it difficult, what God has already made simple.

I decided to be obedient to God because I already know what disobedience looks like, feels like, and its results are like.

So like (imagine me saying this in a different voice or listen to the podcast), I’ll take the right road and the right path that promises to bless me for taking it!

Amen!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
