Hear Me Again: Obey Exactly
This morning I struggled to wake up. So I prayed as I jumped in the shower (yes jump in the shower when you’re struggling and pray while you’re in there). When I got out, I was still praying, and while praying, I opened my phone to my bank app. I saw the numbers 111. I immediately looked up at the sticky note on my bathroom mirror with the scripture Deuteronomy 1:11:
And may the Lord, the God of your ancestors, multiply you a thousand times more and bless you as he promised! — Deuteronomy 1:11 NLT
So I was like yes Lord, multiply me a thousand times more and bless me (and this bank account). I am just keeping it real with yall!
So I went to Deuteronomy in my Tony Evans Study Bible to read that 1:11 scripture and I was flipping the pages of Deuteronomy backwards. See I was towards the end of the book of Deuteronomy and I was flipping back towards chapter 1. But as I turned the pages back, Holy Spirit started speaking to me through the Word…on the pages! As I flipped, I realized that He was wanting me to hear Him again from yesterday.
Yesterday, Holy Spirit told me to obey exactly and showed me a story about how Saul did not obey exactly and he ended up losing his kingship. So I told y’all we can’t be like Saul, we got to obey exactly what God says.
Well guess where He had me to flip right to? Deuteronomy 12:32!! Do you know what that scripture says?
Be careful to do everything I command you; do not add anything to it or take anything away from it. — Deuteronomy 12:32 CSB
He had told me (us) this yesterday! But the mere fact that He got me to this scripture in Deuteronomy by showing me 111 this morning is absolutely amazing!!!
When God wants you to get a message, He will orchestrate a way for you to get it. I would have never been in Deuteronomy had I not seen 111 while checking one of my bank accounts!!!!!
Okay so y’all, after seeing that scripture, I flipped and saw this one:
But the land you are entering to possess is a land of mountains and valleys, watered by rain from the sky. — Deuteronomy 11:11 CSB
Technically, that was 111 (plus another 1) too! But let’s look at what else that scripture says when we keep reading.
11 But the land you are entering to possess is a land of mountains and valleys, watered by rain from the sky. 12 It is a land the Lord your God cares for. He is always watching over it from the beginning to the end of the year.
13 “If you carefully obey my commands I am giving you today, to love the Lord your God and worship him with all your heart and all your soul, 14 I will provide rain for your land in the proper time, the autumn and spring rains, and you will harvest your grain, new wine, and fresh oil. — Deuteronomy 11:11-14 CSB
Do you see that? Do you see verse 13 how it’s also talking about obeying God’s commands CAREFULLY! That clearly means obey exactly! And when you do, the Lord will provide!!
Okay, so it didn’t stop there! Check out these next verses that were highlighted to me by Holy Spirit (in the order I flipped to them):
Follow the whole instruction the Lord your God has commanded you, so that you may live, prosper, and have a long life in the land you will possess. —Deuteronomy 5:33 CSB
For the Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands.He has watched over your journey through this immense wilderness. The Lord your God has been with you these past forty years, and you have lacked nothing.’ — Deuteronomy 2:7 CSB
‘None of these men in this evil generation will see the good land I swore to give your ancestors, except Caleb the son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land on which he has set foot, because he remained loyal to the Lord.’ — Deuteronomy 1:36 (On this scripture I changed Caleb’s name to my name).
Do you see the scriptural journey Holy Spirit took me on this morning during our time together?
As I wrote these scriptures down, I heard Holy Spirit say: I really want you to hear Me, Fon. That’s why I keep showing you these words. That’s why I keep showing you what happens when you obey and when you don’t obey.
As I prepared to write the blog and was typing in Deuteronomy in my search bar so that I could copy and paste all these scriptures, guess what popped up? Deuteronomy 6:11!
When God, your God, ushers you into the land he promised through your ancestors Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give you, you’re going to walk into large, bustling cities you didn’t build, well-furnished houses you didn’t buy, come upon wells you didn’t dig, vineyards and olive orchards you didn’t plant. When you take it all in and settle down, pleased and content, make sure you don’t forget how you got there—God brought you out of slavery in Egypt. — Deuteronomy 6:11 MSG
Y’all I could run around this place right now!! The Lord is speaking! The Lord has spoken! All we have to do is HEAR THE LORD and OBEY EXACTLY! Then we will get all the blessings that He has already put our names on to receive!!! Hallelujah!!!
Shout Hallelujah if you believe that you will receive all that God has for you!! Hallelujah!! Thank you Lord for it all!!!

SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9).
