Intentionally Handmade by God

Whose approval are you seeking? Is it is your own? Is it your family? Is it your spouse? Is it your boyfriend/girlfriend? Is it your business partner(s)? Is it your customers? Is it your manager? Is it your teacher/mentor? Is it your children (young or grown)? Is it your followers on social media? Is it some random people you don’t even know? Is it your best friend (home girl or home boy)? Is it the hood (your hometown)?

This morning the Holy Spirit said “SEEK MY APPROVAL, not man! Don’t ask anyone what they think before you ask Me what I think.”

He continued: “Don’t let any person, place, or thing steal your identity of who I made you to be. You are mine, not theirs.

Two questions immediately popped in my head:

  1. How do I identify myself? (How do you identify yourself?)

  2. How do others identify me? (How do others identify you?)

I thought about how we describe people by titles, jobs, organization affiliation, church affiliation, nick names, etc. But does anyone ever say, you know, Fon, God’s daughter. You know Fon, God’s servant. You know Fon, the one who talks about Jesus all the time (some people may say that actually). You know Fon, the loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind, good, faithful, gentle, and self-controlled woman of God.

How are people describing you to others? How are you describing yourself to YOU? How are you describing yourself to others? When you start sentences like, “well you know how I do” or “well you know me man” or “you know how I get down” or “you know I’m bout that life.” What do they know about you that you’re possibly being prideful about?

When I flipped open my Bible for the Scriptural Surprise, I turned to Psalms 138 and 139. It was Psalm 138:8 and Psalm 139: 13-14 for me.

The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me. Lord, your faithful love endures forever; do not abandon the work of your hands. Psalm 138:8 CSB

For it was you who created my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I will praise you because I have been remarkably and wondrously made. Your works are wondrous, and I know this very well. Pslam 139:13-14 CSB

We were made on purpose for a purpose. The foundation of our self-worth and self-esteem is to know that we were created in the image of God with purpose and meaning. God knitted us together BY HAND! Say this: I AM HANDMADE by God! I have been wondrously made! God knows every detail about me and He cares about every detail of my life. My existence is intentional. Your existence is intentional! Live like it!

Say it again: I AM HANDMADE by GOD! My existence is INTENTIONAL!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
