Keep Your Eyes on the Mission

You’re up! You’re breathing! You know what that means right? You are still here on the earth to carry out a mission.

As I prayed this morning, I heard Holy Spirit say to me: Keep the mission in front of you so you can remember why you’re even doing all of this.

Do you know what our mission is?

We have been commissioned to GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES. That means we have been commanded by Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit to evangelize to unbelievers, baptize believers, teach them the Word of Christ, and train then to obey Christ.

Jesus, undeterred, went right ahead and gave his charge: “God authorized and commanded me to commission you: Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

So that means every assignment that you get from Holy Spirit is centered around you being about your Father’s business, like Jesus was in Luke 2:49

And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My Father’s business?”

We can get so caught up in our own missions that we forget that we are not here to just work jobs and build amazing careers, and get money to ball out, travel, and enjoy life with no kingdom mission or purpose in our dash. Yes, the dash. That little line between your born date and your death date.

Holy Spirit reminded me this morning to KEEP THE MISSION IN FRONT OF ME! Whether I am blogging, podcasting, trading stocks, writing books, teaching my kids, encouraging family or friends in conversation, or leading groups on how to pray and build an intimate relationship with God, there is a whole point to every single thing that I am doing. There is a whole point to every single thing that you are doing.

Ask yourself, is what I am doing related to God’s kingdom agenda? Am I making disciples at this job? Am I sharing the gospel about Jesus at this fancy corporate shin-dig? Am I going to places no one else will go to share about Jesus? Am I traveling to enjoy life but along the way, I am sharing the Good News of Jesus?

As I was seeking more scriptures about being mission-minded, I ran across this blog post and it really gave me a very simplistic perspective about being mission-minded and I want to share the link here with you today in hopes that it encourages you, like it did me.

Let’s get back to the mission of God or if you don’t know the mission, be intentional about learning what it is, so that He can use you for the purpose that you were born!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
