My Pleasure to Serve You

It’s 2021 and I venture to say that everyone reading this blog or listening to this podcast has been to Chic-Fil-A at least once in their life. If you’re me, then you’ve been 100 million times just in 2020 alone. LOL! My kids absolutely love Chic-Fil-A. I mean love it! They are huge fans of the chicken sandwich and we have even go as far as to try to replicate the sandwich at home with copycat recipes.

Now, I don’t eat meat anymore, and my kids say that will never be their testimony. LOL! But as I was praying this morning, I kept thinking: My Pleasure.

And no…I wasn’t thinking about chicken! LOL! But it kept coming up as I prayed.

My Pleasure.

My Pleasure to serve you.

Then my mind went to the scripture where it says: serve the Lord with gladness.

I had to look it up. I put “serve the Lord with gladness” in Google. Psalms 100 was the scripture.

1 Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.
2 Serve the Lord with gladness and delight;
Come before His presence with joyful singing.
3 Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, not we ourselves [and we are His].
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving
And His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy and lovingkindness are everlasting,
His faithfulness [endures] to all generations.

Notice Psalms 100:2 says what came to mind. But also I saw that it says come before the Lord’s presence with joyful singing. It made me think: How do I come before the Lord? If I am 100 with you, I don’t always come into His presence singing. And I actually love to sing too! So that’s a note-to-self…sing my way into His presence.

The Message translation actually says, sing yourselves into his presence. The CEV translation says be joyful and sing as you come into worship the Lord. That’s why I noticed that serve and worship are used interchangeably in certain translations.

I started singing this old song that we used to sing as kids: Let us sing and praise the Lord x 4. Let’s rejoice and praise the Lord x 4. Clap your hands and praise the Lord x 4.

I got curious about the definition of the words pleasure, gladness, and rejoice. I mean you think you know what they all mean, but let’s just learn a bit this morning shall we.

Pleasure means happiness, delight, joy.

Gladness means joy, pleasure, delight.

Rejoice means happiness, pleasure, joy, glory, and cheer.

When I read the word cheer, I thought about the scripture where it says to be a cheerful giver. Actually it says:

“You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” — 2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT

Just briefly researching all of these words altered my whole mood!! Joyful. Delight. Pleasure. Cheerful. Gladness. Happiness.

When I come into His presence with joyful songs. When I seek to please Him, it’s a whole mood!!!

But check out these other verses too!!! Get excited!

For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. — Psalms 149:4 CSB

’I enjoy pleasing you. Your Law is in my heart.’— Psalms 40:8 CEV (this is David talking to the Lord).

———————-

1 Blessed is the person who obeys the law of the Lord.
They don’t follow the advice of evil people.
They don’t make a habit of doing what sinners do.
They don’t join those who make fun of the Lord and his law.
2 Instead, the law of the Lord gives them joy.
They think about his law day and night. — Psalms 1:1-2 NIRV

Teach me to do Your will [so that I may please You],
For You are my God;
Let Your good Spirit lead me on level ground. — Psalms 143:10 AMP

Today, let us be encouraged to take pleasure in serving the Lord. Let us come into His presence with joyful songs (no matter what key you sing on). Let us be like the servers at Chic-Fil-A when it comes to our assignments from God.

My Pleasure to serve you Lord.

Side Note: Here’s a little history on Chic-Fil-A’s “My Pleasure” response.

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
