No Compromising and No Denying

For the first time in months, I slept a bit later. The 1 Hour Prayer Challenge LIVE has officially ended as of Sunday (but that doesn’t mean you can’t still take the Challenge on your own). But this morning, I felt like the scripture that says:

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. — Matthew 11:28 NIV

The Lord was giving me some much-needed rest this morning. But when I did get up, I went straight into prayer because that’s just the lifestyle now: A lifestyle of prayer, fasting, and giving (all three things you learn to do in the 1 Hour Prayer Challenge).

As I was praying I discerned the voice of God saying to me:

  • Don’t Compromise with My Commands

  • Don’t be in denial.

The first one made me think about how we compromise on God’s commandments. When I looked up the word compromise, it’s synonymous with these words: trade-off, middle-ground, halfway house, and bargain. That’s what we are NOT supposed to do with God’s commands. We are supposed to trade-off, be in the middle or halfway about it. And definitely not supposed to try to bargain with God on it.

A good example is when people use the phrase, well God knows my heart. He actually does and if its a compromising heart that doesn’t want to obey His commands, it’s a clear reflection of your lack of love for Him; and it also shows that we don’t truly fear Him.

As I opened my Bible randomly this morning (yeah that’s kind of an OABG throwback…me getting a word from God when I randomly open my Bible), it actually was amazing to see how God used that method once again to speak to me.

I opened it to Luke 12 and it talked about fearing God and acknowledging Christ! But what blew my mind was verses 8-9!

8 “And I say to you, anyone who acknowledges me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge him before the angels of God, 9 but whoever denies me before others will be denied before the angels of God. — Luke 12:8-9 CSB

Y’all know when I saw the word DENIES, I was like wooooooow! I love when God does that. I hear Him speak to me and then He confirms what I heard in His word, even on a random flip open!

We can’t compromise on who we are in Jesus Christ. If we are true believers, we much acknowledge Christ before others. That means in our actions, in our deeds, in our work, in our play, in our every-day. And we can’t be in denial! Period!

As I was looking at the study notes in my Tony Evans Study Bible, I kept reading to verse 15 where it was talking about the parable of the rich fool. But what really stood out in the study notes was Dr. Tony Evans saying that life doesn’t really consist of stuff and how we should not let possessions take our eyes off Jesus.

This made me ask myself the question: What takes my eyes off of Jesus? You could also do a task check and see if what you are doing with your time all day puts your eyes ON JESUS or takes your eyes OFF JESUS.

Be encouraged today to check yourself! Don’t compromise on Christ commands. That means when He says you should have no other god, then don’t compromise on that. Renounce and denounce any other god that you may have committed yourself too (whether knowingly or unknowingly). And He said, don’t be in denial. That means we can’t know something and still be acting like we don’t know! If you’re unsure, seek Jesus Christ about it! The Lord is definitely telling us to be uncompromisingly obedient to Him and don’t deny Him.

P.S. I just love having uncompromising conversations with the Lord! Don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
