Renewed Strength

I had a really hard day yesterday. If you would have asked me what was wrong or what was going on, I would not have been able to answer you. Have you ever had a day or a season in your life like that? I say a day because I would hope that it wouldn’t last a season. But even if it did, I realized yesterday that you (and me) won’t always know what the culprit is of our down trodden feelings. I kept trying to put my finger on it, but to no avail. What had me in this down place? Why couldn’t I pull myself up? I had always been able to pull myself up or be pulled up in prayer. But yesterday was different.

Remember I told y’all in yesterday’s blogcast that the Holy Spirit kept on saying: Pray without ceasing. Basically don’t stop praying. Don’t stop talking to me. He knew that I needed that word early in my day because that’s exactly what got me through the day. And it wasn’t pretty either. I got through it very ugly cry-ish. I had been holding back the tears all day trying to just muster my way through, but around 6 ish, it all came out of my eyeballs and my mouth. What was wrong? I didn’t know, but I trusted the God who had already told me what to do. Pray without ceasing! Talk to Him non-stop.

And the crazy part is, I honestly didn’t want to. I knew at that moment of not wanting to, that was why Holy Spirit had given me the heads up to do it! Ain’t our God good that way? He will give us a heads up and when He tells us, we may not even know what it is for or when it is for, but I am so thankful that He is FOR US! And if God be FOR US, who can be against us? NOBODY! They can try, but it won’t work. Weapons can form, but they won’t prosper. An unidentifiable weapon tried to form yesterday, and it may have formed, but guess what? It didn’t prosper.

As I was praying this morning, the Holy Spirit reminded me that even JESUS got tired! Yup! Jesus is our example as believers. And we can’t be out here acting like we are super heroes who don’t get tired even as we are being obedient. But when we look to Jesus, our example, we see that as much as he was tired during that last cry out to the Father, He kept going. Where did we find Him crying out? In prayer, that’s where! He talked to Father God about it and even said, is there any other way? But he knew even as he cried out that there was no other way. It was not his will, but God’s will that had to be done. He knew it was bigger than that moment he was dealing with.

That’s where I eventually got to yesterday after many prayers from friends and family. I thank God for the tribe of people around me, especially my kids. I thank God that He instructed me to teach them to talk to Him because when they saw their Mom in distress, they knew who was best, to reach out to. They prayed for their Mommy. And they saw the hand of God move. I went from being down all day to ending the day lifted up in laughter. I thank God for praying friends too. Divine connections are the best connections! They’re simply divine! LOL!

As I was praying and listening to worship music this morning, Holy Spirit spoke to me through lyrics. He said: I love when you’re empty. I do miracles with you when you’re empty. You being empty allows Me to fill you all the way up! You can expect overflow when I fill you.

Then Holy Spirit said matter of factly: Some days are just refill days.

And with that, I flipped open my Bible in expectation of the conversation continuing and sure enough, Psalms 19-20 kept us talking.

A Prayer for Victory

20 I pray that the Lord
will listen when you
    are in trouble,
and that the God of Jacob
    will keep you safe.
May the Lord send help
    from his temple
    and come to your rescue
    from Mount Zion.
May he remember your gifts
    and be pleased
    with what you bring.

May God do what you want most
and let all go well for you.
Then you will win victories,
    and we will celebrate,
    while raising our banners
in the name of our God.
May the Lord answer
    all of your prayers!

I am certain, Lord,
that you will help
    your chosen king.
You will answer my prayers
from your holy place
    in heaven,
    and you will save me
    with your mighty arm.

Some people trust the power
of chariots or horses,
but we trust you, Lord God.
Others will stumble and fall,
    but we will be strong
    and stand firm.

Give the king victory, Lord,
    and answer our prayers.

One of the things that stood out to me in the study notes was this line right here by Dr. Tony Evans. He said:

The greater our focus ON God, the greater our confidence IN God.

That is so true! Yesterday when Holy Spirit woke me up with that one liner: “Pray without ceasing,” it was to help me keep my focus ON God so that I would know that even if I didn’t immediately feel better, I could remain confident in the only God who could lift me higher…Holy Spirit!

As I prepared to close out my journal, Holy Spirit said: You’re doing good Fon. Sometimes you need to not be so perfect in your daily routine, so you can allow me and those I send, to encourage YOU and pray for YOU.

Thank you all for your prayers, as I continue to be ON ASSIGNMENT BY GOD.

P.S. I just love my Conversations With God!

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
