Stay Hungry for My Bread

I’m just out here trying to get this bread mane!

I’m trying to make this bread do what it do.

I’m out here hustling for this bread.

Have you ever said any of these statements or heard them from anyone close to you? Maybe you have only heard it on TV, but whether you have said it or heard, it still has left a mark in your mind about obtaining bread (aka money).

Or maybe bread doesn’t mean money for you. Maybe it means food. All you can think about is bread. You love bread so much (I feel you) and you are one of those people who say, Oh I can’t never just give bread up nah. I can give up other things but bread, nope. I got to have my bread!

Bread is such a comfort food isn’t it. I mean think about some fresh hot bread for a moment? Even in the summer time, a good bread makes that sandwich doesn’t it?

You’re like why are you talking so much about bread? Well that’s what me and Holy Spirit had a conversation about this morning, that honestly started yesterday. I love how Holy Spirit will keep a conversation going.

So yesterday I was trading stocks and I was pleading with God for the stock to go up in my favor, but Chile (can I call you that Sis or Bro), that stock came down like rain. I was frustrated and upset because that basically meant I was about to lose some bread. Yeah the money kind. I was about to lose some bread and then eat a bunch of bread to soothe my losses. Remember that fresh hot bread I just spoke about? Y’all know we be eating comfort foods sometimes.

Okay anyway, so the Lord reminded me of Psalms 37:25, but it was the amplified version that He got me with:

I have been young and now I am old,
Yet I have not seen the righteous (those in right standing with God) abandoned
Or his descendants pleading for bread. — Psalms 37:25 AMP

You see that! The words pleading for bread stood out so big to me and the Lord said to me, “stop pleading me for bread.” He was showing me that as a righteous woman of God, I don’t have to plead for bread. I was out of order doing that. See we don’t have to hustle and beg for bread when we live righteous!

So this morning when Holy Spirit continued the conversation He said:

  • Keep saying Yes to Me.

  • Stay hungry for MY bread

I was like okay, here we go with the bread conversation again. I know He brought it back up so I will get more revelation. Check out the scriptures that gave me that revelation:

Jesus answered, “It is written, ‘Man must not live only on bread. He must also live on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ” (Deuteronomy 8:3) — Matthew 4:4 NIRV

Jesus answered by quoting Deuteronomy: “It takes more than bread to stay alive. It takes a steady stream of words from God’s mouth.” — Matthew 4:4 MSG

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. — John 6:35 NIV

First of all let me just encourage you to read all of John 6, verses 22 through 59 because it talks about Jesus being The Bread of Life!

The Holy Spirit was showing me that my life should not be so focused on getting money, losing money, eating good hot bread, because all that stuff don’t even really matter. What matters most is me living on every word that comes from the mouth of God. What matters is my belief in Jesus and in coming to Him, I will never go hungry and never be thirsty!

P.S. I just love my Conversations With God! Don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
