Don’t Overcomplicate the Assignment

While praying in the shower this morning, I discerned Holy Spirit saying to me: Don’t overcomplicate the assignment. Simply follow the instructions. Obey My Voice. Obey My Word. The Assignment is simple. Adversity will come when you’re On Assignment for Me, but FEAR NOT, I AM with you always. I have already overcome all adversity.

I immediately thought about John 16:33!! And when I read the VOICE translation, it literally had the words FEAR NOT (or what it actually says is: NEED NOT FEAR)!

I have told you these things so that you will be whole and at peace. In this world, you will be plagued with times of trouble, but you need not fear; I have triumphed over this corrupt world order. — John 16:33 VOICE

I’ve said these things to you so that you will have peace in me. In the world you have distress. But be encouraged! I have conquered the world.” — John 16:33 CEB (Common English Bible)

Did you know that fear not/do not be afraid is in the Bible like 365 times? I had heard that it was in there a lot so I did a quick Google search and found a few sources that confirmed. One in particular was this site called Believer’s Portal. Here is the link to the 365 scriptures that have fear not or some derivative of it. https://believersportal.com/list-365-fear-not-bible-verses/

The first time it’s said is in Genesis and the last time it is said is in Revelation! Ha! Of course it is!

After these things the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. — Genesis 15:1 KJV

“Fear nothing in the things you’re about to suffer—but stay on guard! Fear nothing! The Devil is about to throw you in jail for a time of testing—ten days. It won’t last forever. “Don’t quit, even if it costs you your life. Stay there believing. I have a Life-Crown sized and ready for you.  — Revelation 2:10 MSG

When I thought about what Holy Spirit said about the assignment being simple, it reminded me of something I had just literally read in a book by Tomi Arayomi called Cosmopolitan Christian. In the book he said our assignment is simple: Go into the world and turn the lights on.  He referenced Ephesians 5:8-13 NIV

For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) 10 and find out what pleases the Lord. 11 Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. 12 It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. 13 But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.

Sometimes we can get caught up in all the things of this world and when it comes to being ON ASSIGNMENT BY GOD we can let the worldly stuff cause us to feel overwhelmed with “all-we-got-going-on.” But at the end of the day (really at the beginning of the day) our assignment is from God. Everything else can wait or come off the list. And for those of us who are ON ASSIGNMENT BY GOD, He gives us everything we need, to do the assignment, including strength when we are weak and a victorious mindset when adversity strikes. 1 John 5:4 NIV says: For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

For as long as I have been ON THIS ASSIGNMENT BY GOD, I have always had everything I needed. Did I have to get out of bed? Yup? Push past obstacles the enemy tried to throw my way? Yup! But when you’re ON ASSIGNMENT BY GOD, the assignment is non-negotiable and HE is right there with you the entire way!

The Lord is reminding us this morning…don’t overcomplicate the assignment! Turn the lights on!

P.S. I just love my worship-filled conversations with the Lord…don’t you?

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
