In the Eyes of YAH
Today during my bible study time, I read Genesis 6. There were a few things that really stood out to me as I read and I wanted to share those revelations with you.
Revelations from Genesis 6
There was a lot of multiplication of madness going on in Genesis chapter 6. There were giants in the earth. And Genesis 6:4 explains how that happens. You go read it for yourself. But so much foolishness was going on, YAH was grieved and said enough. I am about to redo this! (this is my version of what he said in Genesis 6:7).
It is verse 8 that really stood out to me. After YAH said in verse 7 that he was going to destroy man from the face of the earth, verse 8 says: But Noah found grace in the eyes of YAH. For a moment, I thought about myself: What do I look like in the eyes of YAH in the midst of all that is going on in the world today?
When YAH looked at Noah, verse 9 says Noah was a just man. That means he was righteous and lawful. It also says he was perfect! Read that again. Noah was perfect. He was blameless IN HIS GENERATION. Noah walked with God. (Side Note: Let's agree that we should be pursuing perfection and not just settling for the "nobody's perfect" narrative).
Pause for a moment and think: Am I a just man/woman? Do I live a righteous and lawful life? Am I perfect? Am I blameless? Do I walk with YAH?
In the middle of corruption, wickedness, chaos, and straight up foolishness, Noah found grace in the eyes of YAH. It didn't matter what was going on around Him, He was walking with YAH. He was NOT apart of the corruption. He was not partaking of the foolishness. He was not even watching it because he was too busy WALKING with YAH.
When YAH saw Noah, He saw life, not death. He saw continuation of life in him. And that's why Noah got the assignment to build the ark.
Noah's Assignment
We see in Genesis 6: 13-16, YAH speaks to Noah and tells him that he is about to get rid of everybody. He is going to destroy everything. But before he does, he wants Noah to make an ark. Now go and read verses 14-16 and notice how specific YAH is in His instructions to Noah. He gives him all the details for the things He told him to do.
Now imagine this: You believe you hear YAH tell you to do something, but you didn't hear any details of how to do it. So you go try to do the thing he said, but you are unsure. You are beating yourself up trying to figure it out. You know you heard DO THIS, but that was all you heard. Could it be that you didn't hear from YAH? Could it be that you need to spend more time walking with Him to get the specifics? I mean, we are just in Genesis, but there are many stories in the Bible where instructions are given and not once do I know of YAH giving anyone vague or general instructions that cause confusion or worry.
I mean YAH did instruct Abraham to leave his home and travel to the land He would show him. Even though that seems vague, and He did not state the specific place, it was enough instruction to get Abraham moving in the right direction. He told Abraham HE WOULD SHOW HIM. So that means YAH GOT THE DETAILS and you will get them as you obey. But Abraham moved WITH YAH. Clearly he was WALKING WITH HIM.
If you believe you heard instructions from YAH but have not moved, move. If you heard instructions, but didn't get any specifics, stay in the presence of YAH until you get more. He won't tell you to do something without specific instructions, even if the instructions are go until I tell you to stop. Plus when you walk with Him daily, you know His voice and a stranger's voice you will not follow (John 10:4-5).
Finally, the last verse in Genesis 6 says this:
Thus did Noah; according to all that YAH commanded him, so did he. - Genesis 6:22 KJV
