Overthinking?

If you're like me, you may struggle with overthinking. Even with a prayer lifestyle, you may still find yourself thinking too long about things. Well this morning, the Holy Spirit gave me the solution to overthinking and I want to share it with you!

As I was praying this morning, I found myself overthinking. It’s one of the challenges or habits that I am steadfast in prayer about. I pray for God to renew my mind so that I can depend solely on Him and not feel the need to overthink or out think what He has already figured out. But to wait on Him. Admittedly it’s harder sometimes than others.

Well of course the Holy Spirit gave me scripture to stand on for this and it relates to Joseph who was straight about to bounce when he found out Mary was pregnant 🤰🏽 with Jesus! As Joseph was TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO DO, an angel came to him in a dream and told him what to do.

The Holy Spirit wanted me to remember that HE WILL TELL ME what to do. He said, “Remember Fon, it’s not for you to figure out.” So that means I don’t have to stress myself out trying to figure it out. All I need to do is listen for HIM to speak, whether it be through a dream like Joseph where the angel 😇 came and gave him the message or it be some other method! But I can be assured that HE WILL get the message to me so that I can know exactly what to do in every situation!

I pray this encourages you too. We don’t have to figure it out says the Lord! We just have to look for Him to answer us...even while it’s on our mind.

Scripture:

“While he was trying to figure a way out, he had a dream. God’s angel spoke in the dream: “Joseph, son of David, don’t hesitate to get married. Mary’s pregnancy is Spirit-conceived. God’s Holy Spirit has made her pregnant. She will bring a son to birth, and when she does, you, Joseph, will name him Jesus—‘God saves’—because he will save his people from their sins.” This would bring the prophet’s embryonic sermon to full term: Watch for this—a virgin will get pregnant and bear a son; They will name him Immanuel (Hebrew for “God is with us”).” — Matthew 1:20-23 MSG

As I read this scripture, I found myself looking at the other translations. Yall know I like to do that because it’s like God repeating Himself in different ways for me to get it. He is the only one who I am cool with Him saying…”how many ways do I have to say it for you to get it!” LOL!

Check out the beginning of Matthew 1:20 in all these translations talking about Joseph and his overthinking:

  • While he was thinking about this (GNT)

  • But after he had considered this (AMP)

  • While he was trying to figure a way out (MSG)

  • But as he was thinking this over (AMPC)

  • But as Joesph was thinking about this (NIRV)

  • As he considered this (NLT)

  • While Joseph was thinking about this (CEV)

  • He thought about what he should do (EASY)

  • While he was still debating with himself about what to do (TPT)

  • But WHILE he thought about these things (NKJV)

It’s the Passion Translation and the Message Translation that really stands out for me! While Joseph was trying to figure a way out; While he was still debating with himself about what to do; a messenger of the Lord, an angel of the Lord; God’s angel came and spoke to Joseph in a dream.

Give your overthinking to the One who has already overcome it all!

What is God speaking to you about the situation you are overthinking?

SALVATION PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
